Teaching activities within the Bachelor’s Degree Programme in Economics, Banking and Finance are primarily delivered through lectures and may also include, depending on the course and its learning objectives, practical classes, laboratory activities, seminars and supplementary teaching activities.
The Degree Programme also promotes interdisciplinary seminars, aimed at encouraging students to compare different areas of knowledge, approaches and methodologies.
Some courses may be delivered, either fully or partially, through e-learning.
Lectures represent the main teaching method for the delivery of theoretical knowledge, concepts, information and interpretative frameworks.
Depending on the subject matter and the different stages of the learning process, teaching activities may also adopt more interactive approaches, encouraging discussion, exchange of ideas and active student participation.
Practical classes are designed to consolidate the knowledge acquired during lectures and to apply theoretical concepts to the analysis and solution of practical problems.
They may be carried out individually or in groups. Group activities may involve dividing students into smaller teams, followed by the presentation and discussion of the results achieved. Individual activities, on the other hand, encourage independent reflection and the identification of possible solutions to the problems addressed.
Laboratory activities enable students to apply the theoretical knowledge acquired during the Programme through practical and experiential learning activities.
Laboratory-based teaching promotes a learning by doing approach and contributes to a more personalised teaching and learning process.
Laboratory activities may also contribute to the development of language skills, particularly in English.
Seminars form part of supplementary teaching activities and provide opportunities for further study through meetings involving representatives from the business and academic communities.
These activities enable students to engage with professional experiences and operational contexts and to explore the practical application of the theoretical knowledge acquired during their studies.
The Degree Programme also promotes interdisciplinary seminars, encouraging dialogue between knowledge and methodologies from different disciplinary areas.
Specific courses may also adopt active and innovative teaching methods, including:
- Business Games, management simulations in which students are required to make strategic and operational decisions within a competitive environment;
- Case Studies, based on the analysis of problematic situations and aimed at applying theoretical knowledge, developing analytical skills and identifying possible solutions;
- Role-play activities, simulations in which students assume different roles and explore relational and decision-making dynamics in situations comparable to real organisational contexts.
E-learning is a form of distance learning that uses digital technologies and the Internet to provide teaching services and educational content in support of the learning process.
It does not generally replace traditional teaching methods, but rather serves as an additional resource for both students who regularly attend classes and those with specific needs, including working students, students living away from the University, or students with particular learning requirements.
It may also provide a useful opportunity for graduates wishing to acquire or further develop specific skills.
